The Green Generation 2020–2030 agricultural sector strategy builds on the results achieved under the Green Morocco Plan, focusing on human capital, sustainability and performance through the modernisation of olive groves, the value-adding of products and the strengthening of supply chain management. The main objectives set out under this new agricultural strategy for the development of the olive sector, up to 2030, are as follows: — Expansion of the olive grove area to reach 1.4 million hectares; — Increasing production to 3.5 million tonnes, compared with 1.7 million tonnes in 2020; —Increasing industrial production of table olives to reach around 270,000 tonnes, compared with 200,000 tonnes in 2020; —Promotion of exports of olive oil (including olive pomace oil) and table olives to reach 100,000 and 150,000 tonnes respectively. The main initiatives, programmes and projects selected to achieve these objectives are as follows: —Extending social security coverage to all operators in the sector and their employees; — Development of new-generation professional organisations, namely associations and cooperatives; —Strengthening of the inter-professional organisation and expansion of its membership base; — Strengthening awareness-raising, support and training initiatives for olive growers; —Continued expansion of olive grove area under solidarity projects and for the private sector through planting subsidies; — Restoration and promotion of the sustainability of older olive groves planted under Pillar II (solidarity-based) projects; — Development, strengthening and modernisation of olive processing and preservation capacity; —Development and strengthening of storage and packaging capacity; — Promotion of exports through the diversification of products and markets; —Organisation, modernisation and upgrading of distribution and marketing channels; —Promotion of localised irrigation and the adoption of good resource conservation practices. agro-industrial facility.
