- To support the MADRP in defining objectives and strategies and in designing policies, as well as in setting up the necessary measures to implement them
- To coordinate and prepare, together with other bodies within the Ministry or from other Ministries, the contributions to the Major Planning Options, and to establish the programming within the framework of Community structural interventions and other forms of planning and, according to their scope, to ensure the proper operation of the adequate instruments of sector policy
- To permanently monitor the development of policies and programmes and to evaluate their effects by means of previously defined objectives and indicators
- To develop systems for evaluating services within the Ministry, to coordinate and to control their implementation and to carry on the remaining duties assigned by law in this domain
- To prepare studies of national, sector and regional scope and to diffuse programmes and policy measures, statistical information, results of studies and the evaluation of the effects of policy measures
- To coordinate information production, namely MADRP statistical information, within the framework of the national statistical system, and the collection and processing of agricultural market information,
as well as to ensure the relations of MADRP with the national and Community structures in these areas

- To evaluate and deliver opinions about the MADRP strategy and measures regarding information and communication technologies, in coordination with the relevant Ministry body
- To monitor and coordinate the setting up of EU and international policies related to the MADRP, as well as the cooperation policy, thus ensuring the consistency of the interventions and their articulation with the Ministry of Foreign Affairs
- To represent the MADRP near national, Community and
international bodies in relevant areas
- To coordinate and draft the MADRP operational and investment budget and to monitor its implementation, by technically supporting the design of tools of good management and budget estimate, in coordination with other relevant entities
- To monitor and propose adequate policies and measures for developing the agricultural, agri-food and forestry sectors
- To coordinate the specific relations between agriculture, fisheries, forestry and the environment, ensuring the integration of the environment component and territory planning in the design and
implementation of MADRP sector policies
- To coordinate legal procedures within the MADRP, to participate in the regulation of Community policies and to propose, in cooperation with the relevant services, the conditions for their implementation
